Refuge Ceremony & Chenrezig Lung, Beach Walk, Meditation & Offerings

oin us on Saturday, April 19 for a special L.A. event with Khenpo Tenkyong. We’ll start with a beach walk, where we’ll practice meditation and make offerings as part of our practice, connecting deeply with the environment. The day will also include a refuge ceremony and Chenrezig Lung for those who have not yet received it.

Schedule for the Day:

9:30 AM: Meet at Marina del Rey Breakwater

•We’ll gather by the meters closest to the path and walk to the sand together. The walk will last about 2 hours, with meditation and offerings along the way. Please dress for the weather and bring water.

After the Beach: Travel to a Sangha member’s house for the afternoon session.

•The drive is about 20 minutes. Please bring your own food and drinks to share if you’d like.

2:00 PM: Afternoon Session

•Refuge ceremony and Chenrezig Lung after lunch.

RSVP Required: Please RSVP to confirm your attendance. The exact address and location details will be shared upon RSVP. If you’re interested in receiving Refuge or have specific teachings you’d like Khenpo Ten to offer, please include that in your RSVP.

As always, please bring Dana for Khenpo Ten along with a Kata at the end of the day.

Khenpo Tenkyong: Teacher, Environmental Advocate, and Spiritual Guide

Khenpo Tenkyong, sent to KTD in 2014 by His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, serves as a resident teacher and advisor to KTCs and KKSGs. With a deep commitment to protecting nature and spreading Dharma, he is a bridge between ancient teachings and modern needs.

A monk from a young age, Khenpo Tenkyong’s education spans across numerous esteemed institutions, including Karma Shri Nalanda Institute, where he earned his Acharya certificate and a Master’s in Buddhist teachings. He holds the title of Khenpo, awarded by His Holiness the 17th Karmapa.

In addition to his teachings, Khenpo is passionate about environmental conservation. He has worked under His Holiness on projects like Khoryug, which promotes environmental guidelines for monasteries. A vegetarian for over 15 years, he advocates for a vegan lifestyle and is deeply connected to the natural world.

Khenpo Tenkyong’s warmth and vitality shine through his teachings, which focus on meeting students where they are and building strong foundations for practice.
