Greetings Dharma Friends, This month we will continue with our regular Chenrezig practice (Tibetan and English), Debra Ann’s meditation class, the study of 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva, and our special guest Lama Kathy will be joining us for a teaching on Finding the Mind in Awareness: The Path of Shamatha. Learning Mindfulness meditation has changed the lives of many people – taming thought and calming emotion, we learn how to make the mind workable and make better choices in our lives. But once we have tamed the mind through mindfulness, is there more we can do to uncover the mind’s basic nature? Lama Kathy will explain the difference between basic shamatha, analytical meditation on emptiness, and the discovery of the mind’s basic nature. PLEASE NOTE: Zoom credentials for our regular sessions will remain the same. Inspirational Quote: When anger arises in us, there is a danger that we would be mistaken in this moment. We might start to fight or we might say something harsh or unpleasant that we would regret in the future. Thus, it is important that we take control of our minds. If we reduce the intensity of the afflictions, it is extremely helpful. When we can do this, in the future, we will be able to look back and think, “Things actually worked out back then.” Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche Teaching Link: Mingyur Rinpoche: The Sense of Self |
